In this story, a young man, Edward Berryhill, falls in love with a young girl twelve years his junior. She is young and naive about marriage, but her love for Edward leads her to believe he will manifest the desire to make her happy.
If a marriage is to consummate two individuals= lives, they both must share in give and take when planning a future, especially involving raising children. Edward and Barbara, although madly in love, were not thinking kids right away, maybe in three or four years, but God can always intervene in couples lives when he feels the time is right. After only four short months of marriage, God surprises the happy newlyweds with his first of many heavenly gifts, Barbara conceives with her first child.

Book Writing
Do you know what it takes to write a good book? Three things; research, preparation, and a good story teller. Get all the facts and truths about what you want to write about. Even if you are writing a fiction, you must conjugate similar simulations. Gather your materials and prepare your mind and body without regards to your surroundings. Focus strictly on your story presentation. Tell the story in your own words, put it on paper, pay close attention to your materials so the reader can comprehend what you are trying to express. Lead the reader into each aspect of the story, don't stop at a dead end leaving him wondering where you are going. Carry them into the next phase, and keep their interest of wanting to read on with anticipation of the climax, and never leave the reader hanging. A book has a beginning, a story, and an ending, tell it that way.

Family Love, Happiness to Heartache
Just to catch everyone up on the progress of my new book, "Family Love, Happiness to Heartache." My PSA has informed me that the manuscript proofs should be ready in about two weeks. The book cover image should be ready about the same time. I will post the image as soon as it is complete. Once I receive the proofs, I have one week to make corrections before sending it back to my publisher. From that time, it takes about two weeks to complete the book and it hits the market. I am anxious and excited, because this is a masterpiece story.

Tribute to my 40 years since Vietnam
Ray Jackson-Treacherous is the darkness which only light can direct the way. This personifies my life 40 years ago. Yes, I am celebrating the second half of my anniversary today. Thirty-nine years ago today, I returned from darkness, Vietnam. Forty years ago Saturday, the 4th, I left the US for Vietnam where so many of our classmates served. This 4th, I salute our classmates who served, and honor Ronnie Roberts & Billy Caldwell. God Bless my best friend in the whole world, Jimmy Foy Swindell.

As a young boy growing up in Texas, I learned early that wars were characteristic of death. The news, described the American losses of each day's battles. Once in a while, you would hear how the Americans fought bravely and turned back the enemy or they took over a stronghold. Even when I was in basic training, our marching cadences dealt with being shipped back in a box. I then found myself trying to define hero. I couldn't answer that, because I was led to believe you had to do something very heroic.
Whether you lived or died, you were a hero ... I found out in later years, a hero is anyone who puts on the American uniform in defense of our country. Why are hometowns of America not recognizing the deceased heroes, outside the battlefield, of past and present wars? In my book, I take you step by step through everyday life in a combat zone. What it's like being involved in actual battle, and the casualties resulting from each conflict: the men, the women, the real heroes.
About the author: He is a disabled Vietnam veteran, who served 6 years in the Army, honorably discharged as a Sergeant E-5, October 31, 1973. He has been married 29 years, and has 3 living children and a grandchild. He lost a son at age 19. He has an Associate Degree in Business from Navarro College.

Comment from a very dear friend
Hey, Ray....finished your book today. Thank you for documenting your experiences in Viet Nam! That conflict defined our generation in so many ways, and I appreciate having the opportunity to read what it was like for those like you and Jimmy Swindell who served in the military during that time. Even though I knew in advance you made it through (thank God!), it still kept my interest, and I didn't skip a word. A funny thing...earlier today I caught a movie on TV from that war, and one of the scenes was in a club very much like what you described; the waitresses were serving beer labeled "33", and I knew what it was!
It is amazing to me that some communities, and sadly, Ennis is apparently one of them, don't recognize and commemorate the fallen who didn't actually die on the battlefield. If a soldier died as a result of wounds / injuries sustained in the war, they should be recognized as such! I'm flabbergasted that the Ennis City Manager took that stance! Has that been reversed since your book was written?? Is Billy Caldwell's name on that memorial? What happened to him?

Editing complete
My editor notified me today that she is almost finished with my second book, "Family Love, Happiness to Heartache." The publisher should have it in the next couple of weeks. For a first time writer, Ray E. Jackson has published a true story from first hand experience, the dangerous everyday life of a military policeman in Viet Nam that is so mezmorizing, that I could not put the book down before its finish. Writing a book is no easy task but, Ray has made a hit on his very first try. The daily routines of a military policeman is no easy task, especially in a war zone. Each chapter told a story in itself, keeping the reader on the edge of his seat. He is a disabled veteran due to his exposure to agent orange while on his tour in Viet Nam. Ray met many new friends during his tour in Viet Nam, along with old friends from Ennis where he was born and raised. Today he still keeps in touch with those friends as often as possible. I encourage everyone to purchase this book and experience for yourself what life was like during the Viet Nam era for not only a military policeman, but for others who fought in this war. I rate this book five stars and look forward to Ray's next book due out soon dealing with an everyday man's tragedy of life, love, and the horror of loosing an amazing son so early in his life. What I like is your devotion to family and that you have the courage to stand up for what you believe. I'm about halfway through your book, Ray, and with each chapter my admiration for you, Jimmy, and all our veterans grows. One of my daughter's friends will be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan in November (or next May, not sure yet). He's an A&M grad, now in the Marines, and that young crazy kid I knew when he was in HS is now a young man who will one day have maturity and appreciation for home that can only come from being away from it. God bless you and all those who sacrifice for the things we hold dear!

Preamble to Mercenaries
Mercenaries, also known as ‘Soldiers of fortune’, ‘Soldier for hire’, ‘quasi-military forces,' 'strikebreakers,' and ‘freedom fighters’, are hired for combat operations all over the world. There are many names associated with these brave warriors of subjugation. These fervently dedicated soldiers are in no way associated with a political party or organized military affiliation. Where the military has no prudent jurisdiction or does not want to lay claim to an organized conflict, the strike force promptly acts on the behalf of the contractor. The mercenaries apply their highly qualified training to secure freedom and peace from a tyrant dictatorship, illegal takeovers, murders, theft, or parties of mass destruction. Using extreme measures in planning their operation, they travel into countries without their country’s knowledge of the campaigns. However, a mercenary captured or killed becomes a soldier with no country.

Third Book
I just wanted to inform my friends and fans that I recently started writing my third book. It is a fiction about mercenaries and the purpose and cause of existence. Private contractors, private armies, soldiers of fortune, hired killers, along with many other descriptions of organized militaries since before Christ. Brought about shortly after the civil war in the United States. The story is about three friends who have completed four years of active service in the United States Army and have decided they want to continue their dedication to the United States. Although the story is fiction, mercenaries are real and portrayed thruthfully in this upcoming best seller.

Pre-empt to new book
Grow into maturity, fall in love, get married, join the military, go to college, start a career. These are the striving points afforded us by God from the time we are born. The fulfillment of our life is our love and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Without him in your life, none of the above will suffice with your success.
This is a true story of one young man and one young woman whose destiny looked bright, beginning with their love for one another. How do you know if you have the right mate? You will know. The same way Edward and Barbara did at a fairly young age. Nothing could stop them from following the trail to matrimony.
Both were closely attached to their Christian beliefs. They believed without Christ in your life, there are no beginnings or end, and no purpose of family. The two never left Jesus out of their life for even one minute of every day.
